In Celtic pre-Christian religious belief the feast of Imbolc, the feast of renewal and purification celebrated on February 1st and dedicated to the goddess Brigit. Who was thought to be not one but three [pre-Christian] goddesses of poetry, learning and healing; with the advent of Christianity became known as (The Saint of Kildare) Saint Brigit.
